We are joined today by our good friend Gerald Renshaw.

She's our partner in crime. She's kind of the third mind behind this project.

So the title of today's episode is,

My patron saint is Chieko Okezaki.

Because who hasn't said those words, or at least had that thought, right?

I guess we don't really have patron saints in our church, but Chiako is mine.

And I know that Gerily and Cynthia have both found a lot of wisdom in her ideas over the years. And so today we're going to talk a little bit about some of the things that she, some of the teachings that she brought to Latter-day Saint Women during her time, writing and speaking

and serving in the Ridley Society General Presidency.

I actually had a chance to meet Chie once, which is amazing when I think back on it.

I'm not sure when it would have been maybe around 2001.

I'm guessing 2001, a friend and I had gone to a Midwest Pilgrim's Retreat and we arrived at the retreat center

kind of after everyone else had, dinner had already been served.

We needed to get something to eat.

So we went to a restaurant in town that happened to be open.

And we were seated at the table, and suddenly we looked up and in walked Chieko.
