I thought it was so rare to the point that it just couldn't possibly happen to me,

because you know, my, that there just wasn't that family history there.

And in my head, I'd always assumed if it was going to happen to me,

it would either be after the age of, I don't know, 45,

or possibly a little bit earlier if I had the gene,

but obviously that isn't the case.

And when I was diagnosed and I reached out to these different support groups on Instagram,

I just realised how much more common it is for women my age to get it as well.

And I just, I guess I didn't realise because I'd spent life with my fingers in my ears.

And then when I finally was forced to take them out and listen and look into it,

I realised that actually it's more common than we think.
