Understanding that in this context,

Dama means categories of experience

or how different factors function.

The first of the categories mentioned in the Suta is that of the hindrances. We discuss the nature of the hindering mind states both in

general and also looked in some detail at how to work with sensual desire

and exploring the five steps of the Buddha outlines in the suta.

That is knowing when the hindrance is present, knowing when it's

absent, knowing the conditions that lead to its arising, knowing the conditions that lead to its removal, and

knowing the conditions that prevent future arising.

So these five steps are repeated with each one of the hindrances.

All of these steps further our understanding of the conditioned selfless

nature of phenomena. That as things arise when the appropriate conditions are present for their arising.

And they pass, they pass away when those conditions change.

It's deepening insight into the experience that there's no one behind,

there's no self behind this passing show.
