We are here for what's up this week from Do This Not That. This is our short episode where we break down what is going on this week. That's interesting.

0:16.5

We still have our Ask Us Anything a little later in the week. And then at the end of the week, we have our longer episode where you share new tactics and tips and stuff.

0:23.9

So what is going on this week?

0:26.2

Well, the world continues to try to get its arms around AI so that AI doesn't take over the planet.

0:32.0

And we saw in Europe a few weeks ago that they passed the AI Act, the first real sweeping legislation anywhere in the

0:39.0

world, but that's not even going to go into effect for another year. So our country, we can't get

0:43.5

any legislation passed related to AI. That's going to be something that happens. I don't even know when.

0:48.3

So right now, companies are taking it upon themselves to try to do things. So this week, YouTube has

0:53.9

put something in place for all of its

0:55.8

creators that it is requiring now that when you upload content, there's going to be a box

1:02.7

that you either check or don't check that says that the video that you are uploading has

1:07.7

been altered or has synthetic information in it that can seem real.

1:13.5

And if you check the box, it means that it has that stuff. It has the AI stuff in your video.

1:19.9

And when you do check the box, there will be a label that actually shows up on your video that

1:25.6

says altered or synthetic content. And I think this is

1:29.7

awesome because I think this is the direction we need to head that things will start to get labeled

1:34.2

all over the place. And by the way, if you don't check the box, YouTube and Google, who owns YouTube,

1:40.1

is going to be doing it for you. They're going to be using all their algorithms and things to be

1:44.0

able to identify that it has

1:46.1

been created using AI.

1:47.9

So I think this label that's going to show altered or synthetic content is a really good

1:52.5

thing on YouTube because we need something to be able to delineate what is real and what's not.
