0:00.0	The parents of Gabby Petito will face off against the parents of Brian Laundry in front of a jury.
0:06.0	Gabby's parents, Joseph Petito and Nicole Schmidt, are suing, claiming Chris and Roberta Laundry
0:11.7	knew all along that their son murdered his 22-year-old fiance. The trial was set to begin on August 14,
0:18.7	2023 at a Venice Florida County courthouse. You may remember, Gabby went missing in late August,
0:25.1	while traveling with Brian on a cross-country road trip. Her remains were found in Teton National
0:30.6	Park in Wyoming on September 19th, and autopsy revealed she was killed by strangulation.
0:37.3	After Gabby went missing, Laundry returned to his parents' home in North Port Florida.
0:42.0	On September 13th, he disappeared, and his parents said he went hiking, and they said that he never
0:47.5	came back. On October 20, Laundry's skeletal remains were found in Micahatchee Creek Environmental
0:53.8	Park, also in North Port, alongside him a note, claiming responsibility for killing Gabby.
1:00.8	And now the Petito parents are going after the Laundry parents, with damning allegations.
1:06.0	Among them, that Brian Laundry told his parents he murdered Gabby on August 28th, and were making
1:12.2	arrangements for him to flee. The lawsuit saying, quote, while Joseph Petito and Nicole Schmidt
1:18.0	were desperately searching for information concerning their daughter, Christopher Laundry and
1:22.4	Roberta Laundry were keeping the whereabouts of Brian Laundry's secret. And it is believed
1:28.4	were making arrangements for him to leave the country. The lawsuit also alleges, Roberta Laundry
1:34.2	blocked Gabby's mom's cell phone and Facebook when she repeatedly pleaded for information
1:39.7	regarding the whereabouts of Gabby. The attorney for the Petito family has said publicly that the
1:44.8	family is seeking $100,000 in damages, saying they suffered pain and mental anguish as a result
1:52.1	of the willfulness and maliciousness of the Laundries.
