Marshall here, welcome back to the Realignment.

The piece that I have trouble making clear to people is that these paradigms are only as good

as they are useful.

It's not helpful to debate how right neoliberalism is.

That's even the thing that we're possible anymore than democratic socialism.

The test is of all of these things is how useful they are as a problem solving matter.

It seems pretty unambiguous to the case that given the ideas of democratic socialism

have been around as long as this neoliberalism has, it's not longer, and you haven't seen

any kind of uptake and nearly the scale that you would need in order to give them a demonstration

project out of our economy, then it may be not a messaging problem.

Yesterday, Sagan and I air the season finale of the Realignment, where we spoke with Richard

Hananian, who argued that many of the premises that have driven the show for the past year

and a half are completely mistaken.

The core way of summing up what he believes is that he disagrees with the idea that you

can use economic policy to drive a realignment of American politics.

Originally, we're going to leave it at that.

But something I really enjoyed doing this fall was airing my reboot bonus conversations
