I said that intro the way we normally say it, but this episode is actually a little different.

For our first episode this year, we're going to have a very, very, very meta conversation

about podcasting, the format that obviously you, Saga and I have been working in.

But today we're bringing in a special guest, Sachit Gupta. Sachit is a podcaster and most

importantly for this conversation. Him and I are going to be working together at a company called

On Deck to help people build their own podcasts. So to start us off, Sachit, let's hit the most

obvious question, why are you excited about podcasting and the podcasting space this year?

So first of all, thank you for having me and I am really, really excited for us to work together.

The reason I'm excited about podcasting is I've been sort of like behind the scenes for the last

about eight years working with a lot of top podcasters and started my own. And for me, I don't know

any other medium where you can learn from people as fast as you can. So like think about let's say

like you want to learn more about a topic and you email people and you want to get a call with

people. It's really hard to like get like 15, 20, 30 minutes for someone, right? But if you have a

podcast and you email someone, they'll sort of like roll out the red carpet, give you like an hour,

two hours to just record a podcast. And so for me, like I think it's for people who are insatiably

curious about a topic or want to sort of establish a brand in a different industry or in their industry,

it's the easiest way to do it. Seth Godin has a really great quote, people talk about getting

like writers luck. No one gets talkers luck. So it's like hard to like start a sub stack or start

writing publication podcast and you're just talking. Um, you just need a mic. And I think it's

just a really easy way to learn. Yeah, it's absolutely my favorite medium. I mean, even more so

than television, I can tell you that having done short form television and done this like in a lot
