Being a restaurant owner during this Coronavirus outbreak is not a walk in the park. However, facing seemingly insurmountable challenges is nothing new to Melissa. Today she tells us her story of overcoming a terrible accident that nearly completely jeopardized her love of climbing. She still deals with trauma, but she has learned to use it as fuel to continue moving forward. I hope it inspires you, no matter what you’re going through.

Today we're talking to Melissa Strong, and this is a throwback Thursday episode, by the way.

So we talked to Melissa back in 2020, right when the pandemic was happening.

If you know, obviously terrible time for restaurant owners, Melissa is a restaurant owner, was then and still is. So it survived. Her restaurant in Estes Park, Colorado, you know, this was a very uncertain time when we talked. And also, Melissa had dealt with some serious trauma before that when she had an accident at home working on art and craft, like working on a table or some chairs.

And this battery, just this thing went wrong with this project they were doing.

And it fried her hand, just exploded in her face.

And she lost a few fingers, which as a climber,

which is her passion, that's very difficult to deal with. And that's very uncertain what's going

to happen at that point with your passion. Her other passion is golf, maybe not as affected,

maybe with the swing. But anyway, I remember noting she might be the only person I know that's

passionate about climbing and golf at the same time. Those groups usually don't always cross over,

you know? So anyway, she talks about finding a new way to climb and continuing to climb

and also how those skills of getting through that has helped her navigate

this difficulty managing a restaurant through such a turbulent time. And her restaurant is doing

really well. They just opened a new expansion or are getting ready to the restaurant Bird
