So I asked the Jehovah's Witness, we were never allowed to celebrate birthdays or say the

Pledge of Allegiance, we didn't celebrate holidays, you know, Christmas, Easter, you know,

Fourth of July, everything that everybody else did and thought nothing of it, it couldn't

play sports.

I didn't get to hang out with kids who weren't at other Jehovah's Witnesses and basically

the answers that we got were, we don't celebrate birthdays or holidays because you don't put

anything above Jehovah.

So for me, I didn't realize that I was any different than anyone else until, you know,

I got to be probably going into, I don't know, middle school, you know, junior high.

And then the difference is really started to show and I started to question things and,

you know, you're always given the answers to tell people when they question your beliefs

or you're told that the can answers when you question things.

What really changed my mind and what really started to open, my mind is when I started

working, you know, at the age of like 16 and I had my car and it was driving and some

of my peers started asking me questions about why I wasn't allowed to do certain things

or why I lived a certain way and I gave them those canned answers that we always got.

But they didn't just accept them like I did.

They started questioning me and wanting more detail because the answers just didn't resonate

with them.
