Today we'll be telling the story of St.

Juliana Falconieri, whose feast is celebrated on June 19th.

Juliana was born to a noble family in 1270 in Florence, Italy. When Juliana was very young, her father

died, and so her mother and her uncle, Alexis Alexus raised her. Alexis Falconieri

was one of the founders of the Servite Order, and because of his influence,

Julianne decided at a very young age that she wanted to become a religious.

Her other family members weren't thrilled about her choice and tried to encourage her to be married at age 15 instead.

But Juliana ultimately won them over and in 1285 she received the habit of the third order of the Servites.

She remained at home for 20 years until after her mother's death.

In fact, her mother was so impressed by her daughter's obedience to the Servite Order that she also joined.

And then she moved into a new house with several other religious women.

They elected her as the Superior, and their house is considered to be the first convent of the Sisters of the Third Order of Servites.

The Sisters dedicated themselves to taking care of the sick as well as other works of mercy. St. Juliana led the community for 35
