Today we'll be telling the story of St. Jose Maria Escriva, whose

feast is celebrated on June 26th. Jose Mariano Escriva E Albas was born on January 9,

1992 in Barbo, Spain. He had five brothers and sisters.

When Jose was a young man, he was walking through the snowy streets when he saw footprints from a barefoot monk.

The footprints in the snow had such an impact on him that he decided he too wanted to give his life

to God.

His family was supportive of his decision to become a priest, and he was ordained a priest in 1925.

Jose went on to earn a doctorate in civil law and a doctorate in theology.

What Saint Jose Maria Escriva is best known for and was the majority of his life's work was the establishment and expansion of the order he founded, Opus Day.

Jose believed that everyone is called to holiness no matter their state in life.

Opus Day was founded for both lay people and religious.
