and activity sheets while you're there. Today we'll be telling the story of St. Norbert of Zanton,

whose feast is celebrated on June 6th.

Norbert was born in Zanton, Germany around the year 1075. His parents were both nobility and

Norbrot was raised with the finer things in life. When he grew up, his parents

arranged for him to receive money for being ordained to the sub-Diacnet.

He also accepted a paid position as a religious counselor to Emperor Henry the 5th.

The income from these jobs allowed him to live the privileged life of nobility.

He did not want to become a priest and cared more about his material comfort and success

than his spiritual life.

Then one day, after being thrown from a horse, Norbert had a conversion experience.

He quit his job in court, moved back to Santon, founded the Abbey of Firstenburg, and signed

over the title to the Abbott and future Benedictine

successors. Norma sold the rest of his property and gave the money to the poor.

He then travelled around Europe, preaching and teaching.

In 119, Pope Calixtus II asked Norbert to found a religious order in France.
