Today we'll be telling the story of St. Philip Nary, whose feast

is celebrated on May 26th. Philip was born on July 21st, 1515 in Florence, Italy. His parents were well off and were able to send Philip for a very

good education at the local Dominican monastery. When he was 18, his family decided to send

him to live with his uncle, with the hopes that he would learn the family business and one day inherit it.

God, however, had other plans for Philip.

And after a mystical experience, Philip decided to dedicate his life to God and moved to Rome.

For 17 years, Philip lived as a layperson, studying and helping the poor and sick.

Then, at age 35 35 he was ordained a priest.

Philip started a community of priests and lay brothers that did missionary work in the city of Rome.

They're still around today and are known as the

congregation of the oratory. St Philip Nary was known for being

intelligent, kind, and always full of joy with a good sense of humor. People from all around flock to him for
