Charles Darwin said that attention, if sudden and close,

graduates into surprise and this into astonishment and this into stupefied amazement.

In other words, the stewardship of your attention governs your world, shapes your reality.

Now we've... you attend to.

Now we've all heard this a thousand times and every self-help book and every guide to happiness and how to find happiness and how to find your passion and how to live a life with purpose and meaning you know and how to cast aside the broodingness the depression the

exciting the hopelessness the meaninglessness you know how to move past

our soul sickness how do we turn mere passing illuminations these glimps glimpses into abiding light, as Houston Smith says.

And the secret, it starts and it ends with the stewardship of attention.

Simon Weil said absolute unmixed attention is a form of prayer.

So I ask you again, are you paying attention to what you pay attention to?
