So let's start by talking about kind of what it means to be a Hasidic Jew for those of us who don't have a lot of experience

with that world?

Well, the world of Hasidic Jews is essentially, it is a stream within ultra-Orthodoxy,

which is a stream within Orthodoxy Jewish Orthodoxy and that is

complying with a very defined set of dogmas and a very strict set of rules that apply to day to day life.

That is first and foremost what it means.

In addition, Hasidic Jews go sort of beyond what regular orthodoxy is, and they espouse a philosophy

of rejectionism and separatism, remaining apart from the outside world.

They do that by distinguishing themselves in the way that they dress, in the language that they speak. Hasidem who live here in the language that they speak.
