I am Bart Campolo.

I'm the Humanist Chaplin at the University of Southern California.

And gosh, starting next year,

it turns out I will also be the humanist chaplain at

UCLA so I guess I am the humanist chaplain of Los Angeles. Is that a done deal now?

Yeah yeah I'm working with some students there and and we're we're creating a secular student

fellowship that's going to be a lot of fun. That's awesome and we'll talk about the

chaplaincy in just a second. But first of all let's just get this out of the way.

If people are familiar with your name, if they've heard Campolo before, it's probably

in connection with Christianity. So why is that?

Well, that's because I spent more than 30 years as an evangelical Christian leader. I was an inner city

missionary and I recruited young people to come and live and work among the poor and

in that context I became like a platform speaker, a guy who spoke at big conferences,
