Today we'll be telling the story of St. Walburga, whose feast is celebrated on February 25th.

Walburga was born around the year 710 in Devon England. She came from an aristocratic family. Her father was

Richard the pilgrim, an under king of the West Saxons, and her mother was Wuna of Wessex.

While Berga also had two brothers that are remembered as Saints,

Saint Willibald and Saint Winnibald.

When Wahlberga was 11 years old, her father and brothers left on a pilgrimage to Rome.

Before leaving, he entrusted Wahlberga to the care of the monastery and Wimborn.

Wahlberga stayed there for 26 years and received a fantastic education. Her uncle, the very famous St. Boniface,

decided that he needed help managing the monasteries he had founded in Germany, which at that point in time

had not yet become a Christian country.
