| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome to this episode of the ESG Fitness Podcast. This episode is going to be all about |
| 0:09.5 | things that I have learned from working with thousands of menopausal women and perimenopausal |
| 0:14.7 | women and from hours and hours and hours, if not days by this point, of research on the menopause. Because about |
| 0:23.3 | 75% of my clients are peri or postmenopause or women. So I have a fair amount of experience |
| 0:30.0 | to share. And this shouldn't really be surprising because us women will spend about one third of our lives postmenopausal. |
| 0:42.5 | So maybe a slightly higher percentage than that if you include perimenopause. |
| 0:47.1 | And then given that I don't work with people under the age of 18 and actually most of my clients, |
| 0:53.5 | I mean, I don't think I even have that many in their 20s so |
| 0:56.6 | realistically it's obviously going to be a huge percentage of my client base and a very important thing for me to talk about and something I have been lucky enough to have worked through with thousands of women now. So there is quite literally never a more important time |

| 1:31.5 | sleep, aids the ability to achieve and maintain a healthy body weight, supports healthy |
| 1:37.2 | aging and independence. I think independence, especially as you age. And I know that it's quite |
| 1:42.8 | hard to think about yourself as you're like 70 or 80, |
| 1:45.3 | but independence at that point, or for as long as possible, should be something we're all thinking |
| 1:50.8 | about from a younger age. It also prevents bone loss, decreases the heightened risk of things |
| 1:59.5 | like cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes that you experience |
| 2:02.5 | peri and postmenopause. And although peri menopause is the most important time of life to exercise, |
| 2:10.4 | it's also probably the hardest time as well. And so I have come up with a few reminders for you. So number one is that |
| 2:21.1 | exercise has been shown to be the most successful. Is that the right term? I don't know. But the |
| 2:29.0 | most successful thing universally to reduce menopausal symptoms. So I'm going to quote someone who can say that |
| 2:36.0 | far more eloquently than me, which is a review paper on menopausal treatments. And they |
