What's up, everybody?

Welcome back to Iron Culture presented by the mass research review.

I am Eric Trexler, joined as always by the Dr. Eric Helms.

0:13.9

Helms, how are we doing tonight?

0:16.7

Oh, I'm doing fabulous this Wednesday morning.

0:28.0

And that's because I just got off of now Dr. Josh Pellon's defense.

0:33.8

I had the privilege of serving on his committee in my external role with FAU,

0:37.0

Florida Atlantic University, with our mutual colleague, Dr. Mike Zerdos.

0:43.5

And, no, it's been really cool to watch Josh's progression.

0:49.0

You know, I was actually on his master's committee, and now he is just completed his defense.

0:56.6

And he had a really cool topic where he was investigating the concept of resensitization, something that has been promoted a lot in kind of the modern hypertrophy training space, where the idea is, hey,

1:02.3

if we use strategic delodes, can we potentially grow faster following these periods of doing less

1:09.4

total stimulus from training? And the basic idea when you

1:14.7

really think about it is can we have our cake and eat it too? Because a lot of the concepts of

1:20.6

resensitization or growing faster following a deloading period are actually based upon studies

1:26.5

and models where the participants lost muscle.

1:29.8

So they experienced atrophy. And then the question is, well, hold on, are we actually seeing a net

1:35.6

advantage? Or are we just seeing that atrophy allows you to grow faster afterwards? So his question

1:43.0

was all related to creating a study design.

1:45.0

So if we don't have atrophy, we maintain muscle, we kind of go to that minimum effective dose of

1:49.9

training. Can we then grow faster after bringing in the old dose? And I won't spoil the plot.

He is going to be probably talking about that on heaps of podcasts. There is an open attendance for this
