And I'm Bryce.

And today we are going to be talking about the proclamation to the world and the family.

And this is our last podcast for the Doctrine and Covenants year.

But we hope that you keep listening because the next time we get together, we will be covering

the Old Testament.

So we're really excited about the Old Testament.

Bryce, why don't you talk to us about the proclamation and why you think it's important?

Most of this podcast is going to be Bryce breaking this stuff down because, quite frankly, he's thought about it a lot more than I have.

Well, let me lay all my cards on the table. This came out in September of 1995, and I will be totally honest that no

scripture, no block of scripture, no text, no piece of paper has been nearer and dearer to my heart than the proclamation on the family.

Let's start by putting it in big picture. I want to talk about the duty of prophet Sears and

revelators. Why we have prophet Sears and revelators, the Lord says to the prophet Ezekiel in chapter 33,

again, the word of God came unto me saying,

Son of man, speak unto the children of thy people and say unto them, when I bring the sword upon a land,

if the people of that land take a man of their coast and set him for their watchmen,

if when he seeth the sword come upon the land,

he blow the trumpet and warn the people, then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet,
