Yeah. Access more. Welcome you guys to the Cultivate Podcast. I am so excited that you are here today because again,

you guys know that we are in a series on the spiritual disciplines. And to kind of celebrate that,

I have been bringing in some special guests every single week for the Cultivate Podcast,

which has been so fun for me because I've been able to introduce you

to some of my very favorite people on the planet. And I have got one of those sitting across

the table from me today. But over the last couple years, I've been working on a Bible study

called Encountering God, Cultiv habits of faith through the spiritual disciplines.

And that Bible study comes out November 1st. And so today, we are looking at the spiritual

discipline of simplicity, which, living in the West, most of us who are listening live in the

West or live in the United States

of America, and simplicity is not really our forte. That's not really the thing that we're so good at.

I mean, we live in the world of excess and more is more and more is better. And yet, when you go

through the scriptures, and especially you get into the New Testament, and you see that

the types of people that follow Jesus Christ tend to live simply. Jesus lived simply. That doesn't

mean that wealth is wrong. We're not talking about legalism here, but we are talking about a

committed life that is far more about the kingdom of God than it is the wealth and materialism of our present lives here on Earth.
