St Rose of Lima whose feast is celebrated on August 23rd. St. Rose of Lima was born on August 23rd.

St Rose of Lima was born on April 20th, 1586 in Lima, Peru.

When she was born, she was given the name Isabel Flores-de-Levia,

but she was called Rose since the time she was a baby.

She formally took the name Rose during her confirmation.

From an early age, St Rose wanted to be a religious and wanted to be just like St. Catherine of Siena.

Her father refused to allow her to become a nun, so instead she entered the third order of

St. Dominic while living in her parents' home.

Her father gave her a room to herself, and she spent most of her time in there or church.

St. Ros of Lima was the first person born in the Americas to become a canonized saint.

St. Ros of Lima is the patron saint of gardeners, florists, embroiderers, sewing lace,

Latin America, and is invoked against vanity and to resolve family disagreements. Now it's time for our story. St. Rose woke up

very early one morning before even the sun. She wanted to squeeze in as much

prayer she could before she began her household duties and work. As she knelt
