Today we'll be telling the story of St. Maximilian Colby, whose feast is celebrated on August 14th.

St. Maximilian Colby was born on January 8th, 1894 in Poland.

His father was a Weaver and his mother was a midwife.

Colby had four brothers.

When he was 12 years old, Colby had a vision of the Virgin Mary.

He asked her what would happen to him in his life,

and in response to his question, Mary showed him two crowns.

She asked him if he would like to choose the white crown of purity

or the red crown of martyrdom.

St. Maximilian Colby told Mary that he would accept both crowns. He was very active during his lifetime.

He became a Franciscan, a priest, and spent much of his life spreading devotion to the

Immaculate Virgin Mary. He started a monthly publication, a radio station, and founded several
