You know, it takes a lot of cuts but are run for President of the United States, a lot

of brass in.

That is particularly true if you're a little known three-term congressman.

But John Delaney is used to Long Odds, the grandson of immigrants, the son of a union

electrician from New Jersey.

Delaney had tremendous success in business from an early age, went on to defeat a Republican

incumbent for a seat in the House from Maryland, and has spent much of the last year in and

out of Iowa pitching a decidedly centrist case for the Democratic nomination.

I sat down with him in Chicago recently to find out just what he and that campaign

are all about.

John Delaney, welcome.

Here I think the operative mission here of the next hour is to answer these questions.

Who the heck is John Delaney and why is he running for President?

So let's start with the first first because we have some common linkages.

I know that your grandparents were immigrants from Ireland and England and they wound up in

Jersey City.

My grandfather was an immigrant from Russia and he wound up in Jersey City which is where

my mother grew up.

So tell me a little bit about your family.
