you're listening to the tom woods show everybody tom woods here i am delighted to 2025, which I think this is how we're doing the schedule, that the last episode of 2025 is Dan McCarthy, but it might not be. He might be the second to last. I just, we have a lot of, we have, we got to figure out how to put sponsor slots in and maybe Dan's the last one,

but if not, he's darn close.

Surely by now you know Dan, he is a fan favorite on the Tom Wood Show,

editor of modern age, vice president for publications at the Intercollegiate Studies Institute,

columnist for the spectator and creators syndicate.

I read his columns in the New York Post.

They are the best thing about the New York Post, by the way, which is not a bad publication, but the prime, the cherry on top is the Dan McCarthy column. So I thought it would end the year on a high note. Maybe some of the things we talk about are depressing, but a high note in terms of the quality of the guests. So, Dan, welcome back. Thanks, Tom, and that's all very generous of you. Well, thank you. So I was looking at your, quote, X, feed, because I always do that with guests. I want to see what's grinding their gears. What are they talking about? I think you may have noticed. I might have retweeted a thing or two that you had retweeted.

Well, that wasn't a coincidence because I was actually going through your feed and I was looking at

things that were annoying me and retweeting them and commenting. Well, I guess you and I were

equally struck by that article in Compact magazine that now at this point everybody's talking about it called

the lost generation and for those of you who are unfamiliar with it the premise of the article is that

going back to the let's say the 20 teens there's a more or less semi-generation of white men who have been so deliberately excluded from economic opportunity,

it's almost laughable. And it's the kind of thing that up till a few weeks ago, if you had

alleged that this was going on, people would have laughed at you dismissed it. It can't possibly be

that bad. But it was

systematic and overwhelming. And this piece, which is not written by a hard right winger by any

stretch, which is partly what makes it so powerful, documents it in painstaking detail. And then subsequently, Dan, I have a friend, I guess,

like somewhere between acquaintance and friend named Steve Schojeck, who happened on Twitter.

I mean, I think he's got like 40,000 followers. He happened to say, you know, in light of this

article, I'd be curious to know how many people, let's say,

under 40 who are white men who follow me, what have been your experiences on the job market?
