the relationship between certainty and uncertainty.

So in the old religion, one of its mistakes was it identified certainty with the holy and uncertainty with the devil, one way or the other doubt was the devil and so you had to actually have belief you were supposed to believe which was your certainty and it was a certainty that it is true. If you don't believe that it is true,

whether that's virginity postpartum or the way that Mohammed and Allah

interacted or the chosenness of the Jews, whatever it happens to be,

or the Tibetan Buddhist superiority.

If you don't believe in that,

you don't have certainty about that,

then somehow the devils enter the conversation.

And that's exactly not right. What we actually need to do is not...

It's too childish. It's not to know, right, or to believe if you will, but in the highest sense,

not to know that it is true it's to know that I am true
