Summary

On Monday's training camp daily recap, J.J. Stankevitz is joined by Cam Ellis. The guys start by going over injury updates for Trey Burton and Riley Ridley (0:25), and a brief kicker recap (0:45). Then they dig into Mitch Trubisky's inconsistent camp, so far (2:10). Plus, why QB coach Dave Ragone says "bad" reps or interceptions in training camp can be productive (03:40).Cam thinks the expectations fans and media may have for Trubisky to produce now are a bit unreasonable (05:15) and J.J. doesn't think there are any indications Trubisky will take a step back-- it will be more a question of how much he improves (06:15).On the defensive side of the ball, Buster Skrine had a heckuva day (08:45). Plus, are the Bears getting ready to stash Emanuel Hall on the IR (11:10)?The guys reveal the jersey of the day, but it was tough because there were so many great options (11:50).See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Welcome in to another training camp daily edition of the Undercenter podcast, brought to you by St. Xavier University.

0:11.9

I'm J.J. Stankovitz down here in Bourbonnet with Cam Ellis.

0:15.3

We just wrapped up watching the Bears second to last practice before their first preseason game.

0:22.7

And a couple of notes just to kick this thing off. No Trey Burton again today. Matt Nagy said the bears are just, they have a laser

0:28.8

focus on getting him ready for week one, which coincidentally one month from today. Yeah, right? And we did

0:36.2

see Riley Ridley get back out on the practice field. He didn't do a whole lot today, but he was back out there in helmets and pads. That was good. And we'll briefly touch on the kickers before we really dive into this. Eddie Pinero went six of nine. Elliot Fry went seven of nine. It was the first time either kicker has missed three field goals in a practice today.

0:55.1

It was that day for Eddie Pinero.

So, Cam, you were at Lollapaloozo over the weekend.

1:00.0

What was your impression coming back here from that thing that you went to?

1:04.3

That I understand leg fatigue now at a level that I didn't know is possible, so I get it.

1:09.8

It's hot, it's muggy, it's humid here.

1:12.4

Nagy said that we were talking about how everyone was sort of feel in the heat and feel in the

long week, and the kickers were included. It looked like, I mean, their misses were misses.

1:22.2

Yeah, there were some bad misses. So I now can relate to NFL kickers from me standing in a field for eight hours a day.

1:29.3

Yeah, fortunately the kickers didn't have to ride the CTA at all this weekend.

1:33.3

No, that would be terrible.

1:34.3

I almost took the blue line on Sunday and got, you know, and you know, like, just like you get like the chills and it's not in a good way?

1:40.3

Right.

1:41.3

After I thought about taking the blue line somewhere on Sunday, it was like, nope, not happening. I got those chills leaving the concert last night and seeing literally every

single person in the festival in front of me going down the street and just knowing that it was

1:51.9

probably a two-hour walk home. So I do get it now. Yeah. Anyways, back to football. We, so we had a chance

1:59.9

to hear from the assistant coaches today on the offensive side
