I'm J.J. Stankovitz reporting here from Soldier Field where Family Fest just wrapped up,

and we've got a big development in the kicker competition.

I'm trying to get as excited as possible to tell you that Eddie Pinero went 12 for 12 today in his kicks.

He was perfect on all of the kicks he attempted.

Elliot Fry missed two of his kicks. He finished seven of nine.

Here's the quick rundown of what Eddie Pinero hit. He was good from 33, 36, 46, 33, 38, 48, 58, 53, and 60. He then had a couple bonus kicks he made from 45 and 48.

Elliott Fry attempted kicks from the same distance outside of the first three.

So he was good from 33, 38, 45, 38, 48,

58, 53. He then missed wide right from 60.

He then hit from 45 and then missed from 48.

So big day in the sense that this is the first chance both of these kickers got to kick at Soldier Field in front of a crowd.

There were over 18,000 fans here. And Eddie Pinero said it felt like it was a game.

And that sort of pressure that you get from being a game, he kind of felt that today.

And I think that's a really interesting

development. Now, granted, these are still quizzes, essentially. And the real tests, which is something

you know, myself, John Moon, Mal and Cam Ellis have talked about, the real tests will come in

preseason games, first of which will be Thursday. Eddie Pinero said he has no idea what the bears

are going to do. He's going into it blindfolded when the bears do play the Panthers on Thursday, but that is

going to be something to watch as we go forward. I think the overall story, though, that we

continue to get out of this kicking competition is that it's just better than it was in OTAs.

And Matt Nagy admitted the same thing Chris Tabor admitted earlier this week that the kicking in OTAs was just not good enough.
