Hello and welcome to the ESG Fitness podcast. Today's topic is impatience and this is one of the biggest things that holds us back from reaching our goals.

And it can manifest in many different ways and it is one of the biggest parts of my job to work against this.

So put in a much more eloquent way, a huge part of my job as a coach is getting someone to stick to

something for long enough for them to see results. People normally give up by

week two if they haven't already seen results and do you know what two weeks of actually

consistently sticking to something is quite rare. Usually people give up even before that and this is

partly maybe because they're focusing on

the scales as the sole marker of their results or their progress. And when you break that down,

two weeks of fat loss is so easily masked on the scales. Like even if you lost the textbook one pound a week, so that

would be two pounds and two weeks. Two pounds on the scales is so easy to be masked as in, let's say,

it was the week before your period and normally you put on about four pounds that week.

It's actually pretty normal, sometimes more, sometimes a bit less.

Not only would have you have masked all of the fat loss you'd achieved in that two week period,

but it would also still look like you'd put on two pounds.

So if you're just using the scales to measure your progress, you've actually put on weight.

And if you think that progress is only defined by the scales,

then I could very much see why you would be ready to give up.

However, if you just stuck to it for another week,

you would see a huge drop in the scales. And that is a huge part of my job as a coach, is to

reassure you for long enough so that you actually see results, because it's not, often not that

you're doing anything wrong. In fact, you're doing everything right, especially if you're working with me and I've told
