Hello and welcome to the Bikes or Death podcast. My name is Patrick and I'm your host. This is the show

that talks about bikepacking, adventuring, and the cool people who participate. Imagine you are on

a bike packing trip in the middle of the high desert. You're several days in and miles away from anything.

You come across in the middle of the road a 73-year-old man who appears to be dying.

There's nothing around, no truck, vehicle, no backpack, just a man lying in the ground.

If you've been on social media in the last week or so, you probably know the story that I'm talking about.

Tomas Quignones was in what is known as the Oregon Outback on an extended

bikepacking trip when he came across Gregory Randolph in the middle of the road. I'm very

excited that I got the opportunity to get the rest of the story, so to speak, from Tomas.

A lot of what I saw on the internet was focused on the elderly man and the circumstances

that surrounded how he got to where he was, why he was there, but very little information

about Tomas.

And of course, as a bike pack packer I wanted to hear the whole

story about his trip and him as a cyclist and what really happened in those first moments and

and beyond you know we he really gets into the nitty gritty of that situation and I think it's important I think it's

important that this type of information gets out there because it's not that you want to find

yourself in that situation but if you do you can learn a lot from what Tomas did because what

he did save that man's life.
