Summary

More and more women are choosing to have children and remain single. When these women are asked why, most say it’s not that they don’t want to get married but that there are no longer any marriageable men from which to choose.

The so-called "rise" of women and lack of marriageable (read: gainfully employed) men is the #1 reason marriage in America has tanked.

In this week's episode, Suzanne discusses 4 things Americans MUST begin to do if we ever expect to turn this mess around.

From the magnificent Midwest, it's the Suzanne Venker Show, where men and women are equal in value, but wildly different by nature.

So there's a new book out called The Two-Parent Privilege by economist Melissa Carney.

And it's essentially a case for marriage.

0:44.3

Carney compiled data that proves unequivocally how significant marriage is not just for children,

but for our economy and for society as a whole.

0:53.3

And I have a link in this video to two articles

that highlight some of the points in Carney's book,

1:00.7

are choosing to have children and remain single.

1:09.3

And when these women were asked why, as part of the research, most of them said,

1:15.7

it's not that they don't want to get married, but that there are simply no good, quote unquote,

1:21.8

good men from which to choose. And by good, they mean marriageable. Let's face it, and that essentially means being

1:29.6

gainfully employed. This conundrum is, without a doubt, the biggest culprit when it comes

1:37.2

to the massive decline in marriage today. And so the obvious follow-up question is, how did we get here?

1:46.7

And what, if anything, can be done about it?

1:53.0

But there's another problem when it comes to trying to solve this problem.

1:59.6

And that is that very few people in power are willing to address this topic because it is a landmine for them. They'll lose votes or they'll lose followers or they'll lose clients if they talk openly and honestly about this very loaded topic.

2:08.6

So they say nothing.

2:10.6

And it is in this silence where the problem festeres.

2:15.6

None of these folks want to admit, for example, that men in America have been marginalized.
