Summary

Uh oh... We thought we were done with dodgy donor activity, but there are question marks over Keir Starmer's wife, Victoria being in receipt of some dresses from a very well-to-do Labour donor. Jemma and Marina discuss the terrible optics and nuance around the matter, while agreeing wholeheartedly that Tories coming out to try and claim the moral high-ground can ABSOLUTELY DO ONE.

The ladies move onto why we need a new system whereby our democracy isn't for sale to the highest bidder and discuss cases where one might need a new work wardrobe to be funded - cue Jemma's hideous dress story! And there's a clip from one MP who certainly would not accept any gifts of new apparel - no prizes for guessing who.

Then it's onto moaning millionaires, more specifically: Charlie Mullins (or Poundland Rod Stewart as he's also known) who founded Pimlico Plumbers. Poor Charlie is so devastated by Labour tax rises that haven't yet been announced, that he's taken to every media platform to complain and tell us he's leaving the UK - which begs the question: why is he still here?

The ladies chat about the argument that higher taxes for the wealthy will lead to brain drain, and discuss the actual impact this will have when experts have crunched the numbers. Newsflash: we'll be ok.

that would have had zero traction at all, probably, if it had involved the Tories, but which has made

headline news due to the fact Starma is at the heart of it, although

0:38.3

that still doesn't make it okay. Yes, we are talking freebies, blagging, and how much is too

much when it comes to politicians accepting gifts, no matter how big or small. Because let's face it,

if you give someone a gift, you expect to thank you.

Even if it's like a vase you don't like or a top that doesn't suit you or a set of tea towels

that you feel entirely indifferent about.

1:03.2

Although, mum, if you're listening, keep buying the tea towels because they're very useful.

1:06.5

It's just I can't make my face look excited.

1:09.2

But thank you.

1:10.1

I do, you know, they are good. and yes, my teetals are a disgrace.

Anyway, Prem Sicker tweeted, Starma may have broken rules over donors' gifts to wife.

1:20.4

Why does the PM need donations to buy clothes?

1:23.7

They're not poor.

1:24.9

The rich rarely donate.

1:26.2

They invest.

They want returns. So what next? Political
