Hi, this is Josh Marshall and this is the Josh Marshall podcast.

Yesterday we had a pretty big announcement from up in the Senate and that was that the,

you know, this is another one of those cases that we've been talking about that you can't

describe accurately when there's big news in the Senate, big news on Capitol Hill,

big news in our nation's politics.

Without getting into these like obscure kind of like weird jargon and stuff because like the big news

is that they they've come up with a framework for a reconciliation proposal.

The budget resolution that precedes the reconciliation proposal technically.

Yeah, so and so basically what this is is that as we know most of the stuff that Democrats want to do,

most of the budget related stuff that Democrats want to do are going to have to go through the process

of reconciliation and that because that's how you pass things with 50 votes.

And that is basically an artifact of the budget, the budgetary process for how the U.S. Congress passes budgets.

And without getting too much into the technical details as part of that process.

And again, the reason you're doing this process is this is how you get to the 50 vote rules.

And how that works is you have to you have to come up with a, again, here we go again, a vehicle,

you know, a vehicle, right, we're not talking about a car, we're talking about an outline piece of legislation.
