| 0:00.0 | Hey, everybody. Welcome back to the one dream podcast. You're in the team room and errands already. What's going on already here? |
| 0:14.0 | I already screwed up. I was like, you hit record. Then I was like, did you hit record? I was just like looking at it because I was checking out. I was like, what's happening? |
| 0:23.0 | That's the thing about this technology is there's these it's like little red lights that show up and it, you know, it's one of those universal sides. |
| 0:32.0 | All right. Well, welcome back to the team room. We've got something new for you today. Hi, May. Welcome to the podcast. |
| 0:41.0 | You and we were just kind of BS and about this beforehand, but you are popping up everywhere. And it's it's really nice to see an active duty person. |
| 0:54.0 | Like we have lots of there are financial advisors everywhere. And I tell you what, I get constant crypto people in my inbox all the time telling me how much how much I can I should be investing in all these kind of different things. And then also buying followers and stuff like that. |
| 1:09.0 | You're actually the real deal in terms of an active duty person that is not only providing financial education and mentorship, but I mean, you're out there all over the place and you're helping people and guiding people. |
| 1:24.0 | So before we kind of get into that, want to tell us a little bit about your background. |
| 1:29.0 | So yeah, thanks for having me. It's actually a huge honor to be here with you guys. It's good to see, you know, the soft communities. We get to work and be together, even though, you know, just by virtue of our niches, we don't do it as often, right. |
| 1:43.0 | So the way it all started and I joined the Marine Corps and I was a more team mechanic, which is pretty terrible fixing trucks. I would say it's a pretty terrible job. And I feel for every single person that's a maintainer, right. |
| 1:55.0 | Like keep working, but, you know, there's there's better things out there unless you love it, right. |
| 2:01.0 | Then I found EOD. Obviously, I'm sure you guys have worked with plenty of, you know, any of all the service EOD texts. And I was in EOD. I went to Afghanistan and I came back and I saw a Marsock email come up, jumped on the opportunity. |
| 2:17.0 | And I realized that I'm not, I don't know what I'm getting into stuff. Like I didn't really understand the military. I was born in Columbia and I'm like, oh, that sounds cool. I'm gonna do that. |
| 2:27.0 | And eventually I joined Marsock and I did very well, but I had a really good tour. And I said in another podcast that what I lacked in combat experience, I had a very, in very good experiences for me. |
| 2:41.0 | And I try to tell people is that because you missed out on combat, as long as you're not at deployment doctrine, as long as you're not a coward, really doesn't matter, right. There's just like happens, right. |
| 2:51.0 | So then my time in Marsock, it was really good. |
| 2:54.0 | I did a, you know, a few of Afghanistan true trips. I went to the Maldives, recommend to everybody. |
| 3:00.0 | A great seal story, which is really funny, right. Seals left us, left us hanging and they were like, oh, we gotta go. Oh, we're like, dude, is the Maldives. Where are you leaving? |
| 3:09.0 | So it was pretty funny. But then, and what is it? 2016, I met a girl. She was a helicopter pilot in the Army. |
| 3:18.0 | And then she joined the Air Force. She was a pay-fought pilot. And I went with her to Japan. I was the only place that we could be together. |
| 3:26.0 | Came back here and to Albuquerque. Again, second, the only other place we could be together. We swindled the spot. |
| 3:33.0 | And I'm currently an instructor at the Defense Nuclear Weapons School. But that relationship ended. She's still a pay-fought pilot. |
