Summary

You may have a lot of knowledge about how to stop binge eating but, are you actually applying it? You might think you're all ready but, when you feel an urge, you don't do what you know you do. What you're doing is, what I'm calling in this episode, not going over the hump.

The hump is going to begin with the hard stuff. It's the incline where you have to put in effort. But on the other side, it's downhill and therefore easier. So if you want to get to the easier part, you first have to go through the hard part.

In this episode, I'm exploring the idea of getting over the hump and what you need to do to make it happen. It's time you stop standing at the bottom, looking up, and get yourself moving forward.

Welcome to the Stop Binge Eating Podcast. It's time for you to end your food obsession and

0:11.2

begin feeling confident and in control around food. You are absolutely capable of eliminating

0:17.0

binge eating from your life. And I'm going to show you how by giving you simple

0:20.8

tools and insights that you can apply in your own life. I'm your host, Kirst and Sarty. Now let's get

0:27.1

to it. Hello, let's jump right in and talk about getting over the hump. And what I mean by

0:37.3

that is getting over the hard part

0:39.1

before it gets easier. With binge eating, it's allowing and working through an urge,

0:45.3

even when it's hard for you to do it so that you can get good at it and then it gets easier

0:51.6

for you to do it. So you go up the hump, you get through the top of it,

0:57.9

and then you start to go downhill when it gets easier. So a common problem I see for people is that

1:05.0

they learn so much, have so much intellectual understanding. They get it. They know what they need to do. And when the

1:12.1

moment comes for them to put it into action, they stop in their tracks. It's like they're standing

1:17.8

at the bottom of this incline looking up at it and they decide not today or not now. In their mind,

1:26.5

it's too high. It's going to be too hard. They don't feel like it,

1:30.5

or they just can't, or they don't believe it'll be worth it. So they give up. They don't even try.

1:36.9

And then all this knowledge that they have just goes to waste. If the knowledge isn't being

1:41.9

used and applied, then what's the point of even having it?

1:45.9

So many of you have so much knowledge, especially if you've listened to all my podcast episodes

1:51.3

up until this point, or even just a lot of them. And I don't want you to stop yourself from

1:56.5

applying that knowledge just because there is a challenge ahead of you or what I'm talking about

2:02.8

in this episode, a hump. What that looks like here, because obviously there's not a literal
