Summary

With 3.4 million Instagram followers you likely know Chris Burkard. He is one of the world's most prolific adventure photographers, known for going to extremes to get "the shot". However, what is less well known is his passion for Cycling. This past year Chris started training for a 844 mile race that circumnavigates Iceland called WOW Cyclothon. He had an incredible race managing to set a new course record by 3.5 hours! And remember, he's just doing this in his spare time for fun! In this episode I catch up with Chris after his historic race in Iceland and before he set off to Russia for a few weeks. We mostly talk about his race and his passion for cycling. It was a great chat and I hope you find it as enjoyable as I did.

0:45.4

in Iceland? He did it in 52 hours, 36 minutes, and 19 seconds, and that's an 844 mile race that goes around the circumference of

0:57.0

Iceland. He beat the previous world record by three and a half hours. It's funny, I refer to him as

1:04.2

a legit cyclist, and he takes issue with that, regardless of whether he is a legit cyclist or not, he legit just broke the world

1:16.0

record for the Wow Cyclathon. So I thought this was a perfect opportunity to have him on the show.

1:21.5

I asked him if he would come on and talk about that. I really wanted to share a different side of Chris. Everybody knows about, you know,

1:30.9

most people are familiar with him as a photographer, a, he's known for his yoga and rock climbing

1:37.6

and surfing. But there's very, very little information out there about him as a cyclist.

1:50.3

So he's obviously a great spokesman for the sport, and I'm glad to have him on team cyclists, and it was a true honor to have about an hour with him to chat on the phone.

1:56.1

You know, he is a really busy guy, as you can imagine, and I caught up to him on his way from his house

2:06.0

or wherever he was to LAX because right after he got done winning in Iceland, he came back

2:14.4

to the States and started prepping for a three-week shoot out in Russia.

2:20.2

So, you know, I just had to, I basically just had to snag a little bit of his time in between those two epic adventures.

2:27.0

Yeah, it was, it was freaking sweet, man.

2:29.2

What a, what a, I mean, just an inspirational character this guy is.

2:34.7
