Mike Tuchscherer has been on Iron Culture multiple times to speak as a thinker and coach, but this time we brought him on as an athlete. For those who don’t know, Mike has been competing since 2003 and has competed at the highest level. He is a two-time single-ply junior national champion, a single-ply collegiate national champion, a two-time single-ply open national champion, a four-time open raw national champion, a single-ply junior world champion, and to top it off, he’s a world games gold medalist, the highest honors a powerlifter can win. Over nearly 20 years of competing, his mentality has understandably and necessarily changed over the years. Most recently, he came back after a 6-year injury induced hiatus to beat his last competition total by nearly 80kg, with room to grow. Join us to learn how this story unfolded and what you can learn from it.

0:34.0 | So Eric, first, your honk. |
0:35.2 | And let me reassert that because don't you dare talk about your own physique. And I will derail this episode if you're not careful. But we have once again, |

0:56.9 | companion piece to perhaps our previous episode, affectionately titled, you know, the death |
1:02.0 | of powerlifting. It's scintillating. It's sensational. And some people, my favorite, |
1:05.6 | Eric, when someone said, you know, what are the takeaways for this episode? Like, someone |
1:09.8 | asked, it's like there are no, this is a declarative statement. |
1:12.7 | The death of power. |
1:13.6 | Like, I'm not, we're not here to give you then, hey, it's all going to be good afterwards. |
1:17.5 | But we began speaking with Mike to share off the air about that episode. |
1:23.8 | And we brought up, Eric, if you remember, inside that episode because you competed first meet. |
1:28.4 | Was it 2009? What year was it, Eric? |
