Summary

Most of us have some sort of drinking history from college, but not Kerry – today’s guest. Annie highlights Kerry’s naked life story today. Kerry is a hard-working, southern gentleman who found himself using alcohol to numb the pain of losing a close loved one. He shares how he came to decide that enough was enough and now leads a happy, alcohol-free, healthy life!

0:33.6	Carrie, how are you? I'm doing great. Thanks. Great. Well, thanks so much for being here. So,
0:39.3	where I always love to start is kind of way back at the beginning. Like, you know, where did it all,
0:44.4	where did I begin for you? Well, my, my family's kind of a typical, you know, Southern folk. We
0:53.5	grew up on farm and, you know, hardworking people like to take care of each other, but lots of
1:03.4	plenty of presence of alcohol, both, you know, just kind of socially and to an extent, some,
1:08.0	you know, kind of, you know, daily dependence coming from, coming from my parents.
1:14.0	And so, when you were young, it was just ever present in the house, basically. Yeah, I mean,
1:21.4	mainly in a, in a happy sense, just always lots of, you know, friends around, always excuses to
1:28.2	celebrate and have a good time. Nice. And so, when did you end up having your first drink?
1:38.0	Probably somewhere around the end of high school. I had a friend. We would just kind of hang out
1:45.3	at her, at her parents' place and we were never out, but we were just there at the,
1:50.6	they're at the house and, you know, we'd have those, a gut off all the smearing off ice things
1:55.1	that were popular. And that was, I don't know, probably senior year. We would do that every now and
2:01.2	again. And then I actually quit, like, through college. I didn't, I didn't drink at all in college.
2:08.4	Oh, really interesting. So, so your first few drinks with your friends? Well, first of all, I mean,
2:12.2	it's late in high school is, I don't know, I didn't start drinking real regularly till in my,
2:18.4	you know, mid 20s, early to mid 20s, but I definitely had tastes pretty early, like a
2:25.3	somber party here or thing there. So, that's, that's interesting. And then so, with the smearing
2:29.7	off ice and hang out with your friends, why did you decide not to drink in college?
