Good day and welcome to this solo episode of the ESG Fitness podcast. Today I want to talk to you

0:08.1

about pressure and when you need more pressure and when you need less pressure. But first of all,

0:15.5

I learned a new word today, which I think most people know, but I hadn't actually realized it was a word.

0:21.4

And that is, wait, now I can't say it, facilitating, facilitating, which is wavering between different opinions or actions, which must be where the word Vaseline comes from, which is, yeah, interesting. I didn't know

0:40.6

that Vas, like, that had come from a word, but I don't know. Maybe people use this word, know this word.

0:47.3

It's new to me. I quite enjoy learning new words, so there we go. Facilitating is the word of the day.

0:58.4

So, on to the podcast. This is something I've been thinking about a bit because most people perceive pressure as a bad thing and we're often

1:05.4

told to stop putting so much pressure on ourselves. And I mean, just in case any of my clients are listening and are like

1:11.6

Emma you tell me that all the time what you're talking about yeah in some cases right good don't

1:17.6

put too much pressure on yourself and I'm going to come on to that so I'm going to do the first half

1:21.3

of the podcast on why I think you should put more pressure on yourself and then I will come on to the second half which is why I think you should put more pressure on yourself. And then I will come on to the second half,

1:30.3

which is why I think you should put less pressure on yourself.

1:33.3

And really, it's reframing the way you think about pressure

1:36.3

and the way that you implement putting pressure on yourself

1:39.3

and how you think about that.

1:41.3

So as usual, it comes down to you and how you interpret these things.

1:45.0

But these are just my thoughts and hopefully they're useful. So people are always telling us that we

1:51.2

should put less pressure on ourselves. So don't put too much pressure on yourself. But I think it's actually

1:57.5

the longevity of the pressure and not necessarily the magnitude.

2:03.2

So my response to don't put too much pressure on yourself would be don't put too little pressure on

2:08.7

yourself because then you have to prolong that pressure.

2:12.4

And I think that that low level constant pressure is usually what results in burnout or just feeling pretty fatigued all the time, not motivated and kind of just not enjoying life as much.
