Hello, and welcome to a special All Hallows Eve edition of St. Stories for Kids.

We hope you've been enjoying the encore episodes that give some great info on the Catholic

origins of Halloween.

This year we have four new spooky St. Stories, and we rank them, Spooky, Spookier, and Spookiest.

Each story teaches an important lesson, but they aren't for the faint of heart, consider

yourselves warned.

Today's story comes from the life of St. Benedict, who can learn more about in episode

number 27, and we've ranked it Spooky, so listen if you dare.

Now it's time for our story.

Men and women from all over Italy went to visit St. Benedict at his monastery, Monte

Casino.

Usually, they were visiting to ask for prayers or spiritual guidance, and sometimes visitors

would come bearing gifts for St. Benedict and the other brothers.

Now there was a man in the town that had asked St. Benedict to pray for his intentions,

and being very grateful when they were answered, decided to send his new young servant up

to the monastery to deliver two flaggans of fine wine.

My dear boy, he said, the very holy brother Benedict has definitely been praying for me

as he promised he would.

To show my gratitude, I'd like to send him these two fine bottles of wine.

Please take them to Monte Casino in the morning.

It was quite a walk, so be sure to leave early.

The young servant was not excited to be given this task.
