Hello, and welcome to a special All Hallows Eve edition of St. Stories for Kids.

We hope you've been enjoying the encore episodes that give some great info on the Catholic

origins of Halloween.

Today's story comes from the life of St. Macarius, who was featured in one of our encore

Halloween episodes.

Now it's time for our story.

It was a night like any other for St. Macarius as the sun went down.

He had enjoyed a simple supper and was preparing to go to sleep in his humble cell, when from

outside his window he thought he heard a noise.

This walked over and peered outside, but saw nothing.

A gentle breeze blew in through the window, and he thought he caught the scent of something

unusual.

Was it sweat?

He wrinkled his brow.

Just on the horizon a crowd of people came into view.

They were carrying torches and were headed straight towards the Holy Man's hut.
