Abortion access is a human right period. This is an issue that effects 1/4 women, across party lines and religious affiliations. Alexis opens this episode with her perspective. Later we dive into reproductive health care with Robyn Pool, a licensed midwife here in the Los Angeles area. We discuss an array of topics such as VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), circumcision, body autonomy, informed consent and much more. 0:06.0	and given the current political climate, we absolutely need to talk about abortion.
0:11.0	Abortion access is a human right. And in a world where every day women are being raped,
0:17.8	physically abused, and subjected to incest, abortion must remain legal.
0:23.7	In a world where many are poverty-stricken, don't have health insurance, and don't have paid
0:29.3	maternity or paternity leave, abortion must remain legal. In a country where we have the highest
0:37.3	maternal death rate of any westernized country, abortion must remain legal, abortion must remain
0:47.2	legal period. I was inspired by busy Phillips post and her movement, hashtag
0:59.5	you know me. In regards to abortion, we often hear from the pro-life crowd as they are very
1:13.3	loud and very aggressive, and most women feel ashamed and scared to come forward and to talk about
1:21.7	their abortion stories. There are one in four women that have abortions.
1:29.5	Our stories are ours, and we don't need to be ashamed about them. I want to be clear with regards
1:38.6	to my abortion stories. I'm not ashamed. I feel sad that I was in the situation that I was in,
1:47.8	but I don't regret my decisions. I had two abortions when I was a teenager addicted to opiates.
1:59.0	I wasn't having regular periods. I was in unhealthy relationships, and I had a DNC at six weeks,
2:10.2	and I took the pill at four weeks and had a termination at home. These weren't easy decisions to
2:20.7	make, despite the fact that looking at my outside circumstances, I was being pressured by many to
2:29.3	just go forward with having a termination. I still felt like I said really sad about being in that
2:38.5	position, but I was not ready to be a mom, and I was in no condition to be pregnant. Fast forward to
2:52.4	my life and sobriety. I'm married. I have children, a child, excuse me, I have a child at this
2:59.4	point, and in between my pregnancies with Harper and Dakota, I ended up having a loss and an
3:06.8	ectopic pregnancy, and those were really painful things to deal with. Then I got pregnant with Dakota,
