Summary

I just try so hard. I just keep trying. No matter what I do… No matter what I try… Sound familiar? In the first episode of 2019, Natalie shares a recent experience that flagged up to her that we just don't have to try THAT hard. You know, the kind of hard where we're only 'trying' because we feel as if we're "not good enough" or are aware of the other person's bottomless pit ways.

I had planned on taking a couple of weeks break because we were

0:17.2

holidaying in the US in San Francisco for a couple of weeks but it had originally been planned for this week and last week.

But thanks to my 500 gigabyte hard drive vanishing into Finair off my mapbook pro. That meant that the

0:36.7

episodes that I had recorded just before I left had vanished into fear now. Yes it's been fun and games while I've been away

0:48.0

although to be fair it as stressful as it was it was all okay in the end and it ended up being a bit of a blip in the trip.

Thankfully the majority of my stuff was backed up, it was only a little bit of stuff that was lost so nothing dramatic and I wondered if it was just a sign that I was overtired anyway and it was time for a rest. And now I'm back after an amazing couple of weeks away.

In fact I want to give a big shout out to everybody who showed up for the meet-up in San Francisco, I was a bit blown away.

1:28.0

You know, you never know with these things. There wasn't like an RSVP thing, so I had no idea how many people were going to show up and just before the first person showed up I had that feeling of

1:38.4

I mean like the kid who's having a birthday party and you're not sure if anybody's going to turn up and next thing

1:44.5

somebody turned up and then somebody else and then somebody else and it just went on.

1:48.9

It was brilliant. I had so much fun so thank you to everybody who showed up and I'm looking forward to having some more meetups and some more seminars and workshops this year.

So what are we going to talk about today?

2:02.0

Well, I want to preface this by saying this isn't going to be a long episode because I actually haven't had a decent night's sleep for what are we on? Yes, about three days or so. In fact, the first day we got back from San Francisco, which was on New Year's Day. That's in 2019, just in case anybody's listening in the future. I passed out at about 5 o'clock in the afternoon and went into like this deep sleep.

2:32.4

Turns out my friend had given me one of these. and went into like this deep sleep.

2:32.5

Turns out, my friend had given me one of these melatonin tablets

2:37.0

to help with sleep, but I had a bit of a melatonin hangover.

2:40.1

And so as a result, I could not keep my eyes eyes open so I crashed out for a few hours, got up,

2:46.6

potted for a bit and then actually fell asleep I think at about one in the morning and

2:50.7

had a fairly decent night sleep. Really was quite tired on a Wednesday but the last couple of nights, oh my gosh, have I struggled. In fact, last night I was awake from 140 a.m. until just before 7 a.m.
