And today we are covering section 85, 86, and 87 of the Doctrine and Covenants.

Section 85 is a portion of a letter that Joseph Smith is writing to W.W. Phelps, and it's

dealing with the issue of his complaint that not everybody's living consecration, not

everybody's following the rules, and so he writes a letter to Joseph asking his opinion

of what should be done, and this is a portion of his response to W.W. Phelps.

So that's kind of the historical context.

This is all happening in 1832 in November.

So things were kind of a mess in Jackson County, and this is Joseph writing to kind of clean

Now not only does he have something to say about the leadership, but also about the people.

If you look in the middle of verse 7, there's going to be a mighty and strong one who is

going to put a range by a lot of the inheritances.
