Today, we’re talking about the most evolved part of us, as humans, and what separates us from animals – the prefrontal cortex. It is the part of our brain responsible for personality expression, decision making, moderating social behavior, and executive function. The prefrontal cortex is what allows us to think about thinking, and that’s what we’re focusing on today.

0:20.0 | Hello there, everyone, my friends. How are you guys today? |
0:26.0 | I am doing fantastically well, just about to start my upcoming training, which is sold out. |
0:34.0 | And I am just finishing up with some stopover reading masterclass and going about start the new one, which is sold out. |
0:42.0 | So that's super fun. Business is great. Life is great. Everybody's great. So I'm having a wonderful day. |
0:48.0 | I'm going to talk to you guys today about the prefrontal cortex. I want to start by saying that I've simplified everything. |
0:59.0 | So when I study the brain, which I'm totally fascinated with, I fall asleep whenever I start reading about the parts of the brain, the anatomy of the brain, |
1:08.0 | how the brain is chemically made up all of the terminology to define the brain. Like, I don't know what happens in my brain, but it's like snore. It doesn't care about any of that. |
1:18.0 | I care about how the brain affects our emotional lives and how it affects our functioning lives. And so I only get terms and hold on to terms that help me do that understanding. |
1:30.0 | I don't need to read the names of, I mean, I could sit here and read you the parts of the brain with, you know, a picture or read it off the internet, but I just don't think it's useful. |
1:40.0 | So I know that I have lots of PhDs and doctors that listen to me. And I know that you guys are probably cringing at my simplicity, but I also get a lot of emails and feedback that my simplicity is what makes it useful. |
1:55.0 | So hang in there with me sisters and brothers. This will be useful to you, but it won't be as scientific as some of you would have made it. But, you know, that's your blog and your podcasts very complicated scientific. |
2:09.0 | It's much smarter than me. I'm sure seriously. |
2:11.0 | A lot of people say like, why are you so good at teaching? I said, because I don't think that I have that level of intelligence where I grasp it is really quickly. Like I have to break him down in order to understand him. And I think that makes me a good teacher because I think other people are similar. |
2:24.0 | So we are going to talk about prefrontal power and the way that I have broken down the terminology is as such. |
2:31.0 | I'm going to talk about the prefrontal cortex, the front of our brain, the cortex covers that front of the brain. And I'm going to use that to describe the executive functioning part of our brain. |
2:44.0 | Okay. And then the cerebellum is the back part of the brain. And it's total and over generalization to refer to it like that. But I'm going to refer to that as our automatic consciousness. |
2:54.0 | So basically the prefrontal cortex is our most evolved part of us as humans. It's the part of us that can think about our own thinking. It's the part of executive function. It's the part that makes us human individuals. |
3:09.0 | Okay. And so I'm going to refer to that the prefrontal. I'm going to refer to our automatic consciousness or our unconsciousness as just that. |
3:18.0 | And the reason why I'm identifying them in this way is because it's really important to understand that your brain has two types of functioning thought processes, right? I'm only really interested in our thinking and how we manage it. |
