Welcome to the first episode of 2019.

Hope everyone had a good year, whether you party your face off or stayed at home and watched a movie.

Anyways, it's just me, Cody, on this one.

Dustin is on vacation in the mountains getting his shred on.

So in this episode I talk to Jesse Bertner, Snowboarder Extraordinare.

For those not familiar with Jesse, he's a legend in the snowboard world and he's Alaskin.

He went on to create a whole new kind of snowboarding which uses things like traffic cones and side streets and things like

to snowboard on rather than traditional things like going in the backcountry and building a jump

or you know climbing to the top of tin can or a turn again here in Alaska

so it's a little different it's it's more urban snowboarding and so we get into that we

talk about the old borderlineline Alaska days, which is a shop that my dad Scott and my uncle J. Liska started back in 1989 and kind of like revolutionized the entire Alaska snowboard scene and I mean it was it's pretty

Indescribable. We actually use that word in the podcast to describe the time you know I think one of us say that it is it's

one of those things where when you refer back to it you always refer back to it in anecdotes

because to try to describe it as a whole is pretty

indescribable. So yeah, Bertner was was back for Christmas and he was able to

squeeze in some time to sit down with me.

I remember back in the day David North and Sammy Lubbkey.

They were super good friends and were kind enough to kind of include me in a lot of their girdwood shenanigans back of the day and let me stay at their place when I need a place to crash in girdwood and we all just kind of, I don't know, did what kids do during summertime and as snowboarders in in Gerber, Alaska.
