Well, hello there, Nurse Mo here, and I have got an encore episode for you today, which I'm pulling from the archives because it is a topic that is so, so important.

And we're going to be talking about nurse shock. So when I was a brand new nurse working in the ICU, I really thought my biggest challenge was going to be learning all the complex critical care stuff, all that pathophysiology,

all the gadgets. But I was a little bit wrong about that. Turns out nursing is a lot more than

just clinical knowledge. It's also about learning how to care for yourself, how to navigate your

role, doing all of this while you're caring for

others.

So in this episode, I'm joined by my nurse bestie and fellow educator Stephanie Griffith to talk

about something every new nurse experiences in one way or another, and that is nurse

shock.

And I love the way Steph explains this concept using metaphors

that your nurse brain already totally understands. And this really is a conversation every new

grad nurse needs to hear. Even a nurse maybe not so new, but just as you're acclimating to your

role, maybe a couple of years and starting to feel

some burnout, some overwhelm, it really gives voice and an identity to those things that you

have been feeling.
