We went to Talbot School Theology together.

He is an associate professor of spiritual theology and formation, where you teach in the Institute for Spiritual

Formation, written a number of books.

And today we're going to talk about a recent book you edited or co-edited called Embracing Contemplation, but Kyle Strobel, thanks for joining us, man.

Hey, thanks so much for having me here, guys.

Before we jump into kind of your book and the spiritual disciplines here, I'm curious, we just share

with me first a little bit

about your journey to faith. Growing up in a Christian home, what was that like for you?

Yeah, well you know I grew up in a Christian home as you said I you know in many ways thought that my family

had been Christians for generations you know one of the things that's funny about my

sister and I were about two and a half years apart she's two and a half years

older she remembers she remembers my father's conversion and a half years older. She remembers my father's conversion,

and it actually led to her conversion.

I mean, she was, I think, a four-year-old

who went to mommy one day and said, mommy,

I want Jesus to do for me what he did for daddy
