We got some new data today that shows how President Donald Trump's policies are impacting the economy.

First, the good news.

Inflation slowed sharply in March, moving closer to the Federal Reserve's 2% target,

while consumer spending continued to fuel the economy.

That's according to the personal consumption expenditures report from the Commerce Department. Its GDP report, however, which is the broadest measure of economic output, isn't as positive.

It shows the economy shrank during the first three months of the year, declining at an annualized

rate of 0.3%.

That's the first drop in three years.

And it was driven by two things.
