Hey everyone, this is Mary DeMuth and this is Pray Every Day, where I pray you through the Bible verse by verse.

We're making our way through the book of Ecclesiastes.

We'll be done pretty soon in three days, actually, today, tomorrow, the next day.

Today I'm reading from Ecclesiastes Chapter 10 in the World English Bible.

They do think that Solomon is a strong possibility of writing this book,

and we kind of know from his life what happened to him. He started off well, he did not

finish well. So he learned a lot of stuff while he was not finishing well, and now we get to

read it. He also seems a little bit cynical to me, so hopefully we will make it through this book without his cynicism in our minds.

Okay, chapter 10.

Dead flies cause the oil of the perfumer to produce an evil odor, so does a little folly outweigh wisdom and honor.

A wise man's heart is at his right hand,

but a fool's heart at his left.

Yet also when the fool walks by the way,

his understanding fails him and he says to everyone

that he is a fool.

In the spirit of the ruler,

if the spirit of the ruler rises up against you,

don't leave your place, for gentleness

lays great offenses to rest. There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, the sort of error

which proceeds from the ruler. Folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in a low place.

I have seen servants on horses and princes walking like servants on them. He

who digs a pit may fall into it and whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake.
